AUCKLAND STOCK EXCHANGE. Business was very quiet on the Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday. In Government securities practically all classes were sought, but sellers quoted in only ono instance and no sales resulted. In banks business was dull. New Zealands were wanted at 60s 6d, sellers asking 6d more. In insurance the market for Now Zealands closed at 39s 9d and 39s 6d. For South British offers of 55s were made, but no holders wero revealed. In shipping Huddart-Parkers wero dona at 44s 3d. More were sought at 445, sellers asking 44s 9d. In miscellaneous Sanford, Ltd. changed hands at 20s and 20s 3d. Taranaki Oils had two salos at 12s, more being wanted at that price, sellers asking 12s 9d. Wilsons Cement changed handd at 35s 6d and 35s 9d. In mining Alburnias were slightly easier. Sales wero made at from 6s 5d to 6s 10d, tho market closing at 6.s 6d and 6s sd, against 7s and 6s Lid on the previous day. * Moanataiaris had no sales, tho market closing at 2s 10(1 and 2s 6d. Kawaraus improved, sales being recorded at 7s 7d and 7s Bd. Tho market closed at 7s 9d and 7s 7d, compared with 7s 6d and 7s 4d on Thursday. Lucky Shots, contributing issue, wero a shade easier, sales being made at Is 9d and Is Bd. Following is a summary of transactions since Friday of last week. In tho second column is given the return, based on the last dividend, from investment at the quoted price. In tho case of Government and other terminable securities, the return includes redemption. Tho first column gives tho figure at which the ,latest sale was made during tho week:—
