Appliques of fir—in patterns of diamonds, circles, triangles, squares and ovals—will be a favourite trimming for next winter's coats* Coloured fur will be used, designers even going so far as to use more than one shade of a single dyed skin. Smart features of the autumn sport fashions will be the felt hat and the leather coat. The hat may be of the beret or the strictly mannish type, and the coat of suede in a soft colour, handpainted or of glazed leather. The artificial flower again will be adored of fashion. It is to bo used for a pocket corsage, lhe gardenia of gold and the velvet carnation, and gold and silver magnolias are favoured f<3r this new clover touch. Gloves are to be elaborate. Gauntlets will again be the vogue, with the cuffs embroidered or perforated. A new panel will lend interest to the mode. It is a combination of a bib and an apron, beginning at the neckline and extending to the hemline, in a fan-shaped jabot effect. The widened line, as it approaches the hein, is most becoming. The newest choker necklace is a two-in-one alTair of pearls and rhinestones. It is designed for wear in the evening as well as the daytime: in the latter case the pearls are worn to the front, m the evening the brilliants. Fashion has focussed its attention on the lowly tobacco pouchhitherto the prerogative of man—and fashioned it into a bag of pigskin for miladv to carry. It is a pleasing size and has purse and mirror inside.
