COMMANDER BYRD'S FLIGHT

Tho American airman, LieutenantCommander Richard Byrd, left King's Bay, Svalbard, this morning on his North Pole flight and returned after hours. He claims to have reached the North Pole.
Commander Byrd states that with the Stars and Stripes (lying from the prow of his machine he encircled the Pole three times before returning
A heavy fall of snow terribly impeded the action of the wings.
Captain Roald Amundsen, who was asleep when his rival started, was tho first to welcome him when he returned.
