HOCKEY FOR WOMEN.
Hockey as a game for women in England is rapidly growing in popularity, and the territorial matches of this year have aroused a great deal of interest. New hockey clubs are appearing in every direction and the game is attracting more and more adherents among women. For it is, as far as they are concerned, the ideal winter game, and must indeed rank among the most sprightly of all games, says a writer in an exchange. Lawn tennis in summer and hockey in winter enable a woman to keep fit, and it is satisfactory to know that both of them are so increasingly popular. In one form or another hockey has been played for a very long time, and now that women participate so actively in sport it is only natural that they should carry on the tradition and give it a new lease of vitality.
