EXCLUSIVE SYDNEY CLUB.

FOUNDED BY THE " POTTERS." [from our own correspondent.] SYDNEY, April 29 The possibilities of a movement entirely new to the academic life of Australia are now being explored by some of-the senior undergraduates of the Sydney University. Following the efforts of the senate and the administrative staff to create a community spirit within the university, there has been founded what is known as the Potters' Club. Incidentally, some mean spirits, especially at commemoiation, will inevitably dub it the plotters' club. It will, it seems, be a somewhat exclusive body, for admission to it will be restricted to university men who have distinguished themselves in some sphere of university life other than mere scholastic attainment, who have definitely contributed to its community spirit, and, above, all, who are known to be "jolly good fellows'' in .the best sense of the term^ Whether the new club will bo • secret club or whether it will be modelled on the lines of the strictly regulated university clubs of Oxford and Cambridge is not yet known. The ultimate aim of the potters will be to assist not only in promoting good fellowship but also the work of th* English-speaking union. In the fashioning of a potter, however, who is to determine the qualities of a "jolly good fellow?" Sydney, however, is so.full of organisations permeated by high ideala and a spirit of altruism, that another little one will not do any harm.
