QUALITY OF WATER.
ONE TREE HILL COMPLAINTS. On isolated occasions complaints have been made concerning the excessive chlorination of the water service in the One Tree Hill road district. A report on the water supply, by Dr. W. Gilmour, pathologist of the Auckland Hospital, war. received by the One Tree Hill Road Board last evening. The report stated that under ordinary conditions the filters were capable of maintaining a supply free from chlorine. When an abnormal demand for water occurred, and the filters were required to work St double their capacity, traces of chlorine were inevitable. The chairman, Mr. E. G. Clark, said the dates of the complaints tallied with race meetings at Alexandra Park. The racecourse accounted for a heavy drain on the supply. To ensure immunity from chlorine at all times, an extra filter might he necessary. This would cost about £I3OO. Tho engineer was deputed to report on the capacity of the supply.
