NEW ZEALAND BODY MEETS, LIFE MEMBERSHIP PROPOSAL 1 , CANTERBURY REQUEST GRANTED* Tho annual meeting of Iho New Zealand Rugby League was hold last evening. Mr, J. Carlaw presiding. Tho annual Teport and balance-sheet, which recorded a profit oE £ll2O 'for tho season, wa3 adopted. Thero was considerable discussion on si request by the Canterbury League that Mr. E. Henley, its late chairman, shhul<J bo made a life member. The request was supported by Messrs. W. Moyle and G. Rhodes, the Canterbury delegates. Mr. R. Stirling said he strongly opposed the reatiest. as Mr. Ilealey was in no small measure responsible for tho trouble thatj had occurred in Canterbury. Mr. R. Webster supported Mr. Stirling and added that Mx. Healey had done nothing to warrant his appointment. Mr. Moyle expressed surprise that n nomination for lifo membership endorsed unanimously by a league should receive anjr opposition. Further discussion ensued before it was decided to agreo to the renuest: Messrs. T. Boswell and A. Scliofield were also appointed life members. Tho Auckland League drew attention 16 the fact that W. Wilson-Hall and P. Mason, Into of Athletic Club, had played in Christ, church last Saturday without fulfillinc certain obligations due to the club. It was decided to notifr the Canterbury Leacuo of tho irregularity. The chairman ridiculed the suggestion and moved that tlis English Rugby League be asked to have ths renditions of the tour published in all th® lending English newspapers, making clear the status of all players chosen. The first senior Rugby League matches of the season will be played to-morrow afternoon, Ponsonby ana Devonport will provide the chief attraction at Park, and on No. 2 ground City will play Newton. The third senior A grade game will b« played at the Domain between Richmond and Athletic. The senior B grade matchea will also be commenced. Several practica matches have been arranged.
