LEAGUE FOOTBALL. RUGBY'S LOSS OF GROUNDS. A CONFERENCE SUPPORTED. A meeting of the Auckland Rugby League was held last evening. Mr. W. J. Hammill presided. It was reported that the Rughy Union was experiencing considerable difficulty in finding sufficient playing areas owing to the fact that the Avondalc Jockey Club was effecting .alterations to its racing track, whereby the Rugby Unimi has lost eight grounds. It was decided to support a suggestion that a conference be held consisting of Rugby, Leaguo and Soccer representatives with the object of assisting the Rugby Union in its present difficulty. A request from the newly-formed Aknrana Club for affiliation of two teams was referred to the Junior Management Committee. Considerable discussion arose over the distribution of team cards for the uso of players. Mr. R. Doble stated that in past seasons these cards were handed to the clubs and on many occasions they were not used. As a result the players names often appeared on the backs of cigarette packets, the suggestion that the referees should be made responsible for these cards was agreed to. Mr. Ilammill drew attention to the annual meeting this evening of the New Zealand Council and stated that a matter concerning delegates on that body would have to be discussed. It was time this League opposed the holding of seats by any delegate who represented League* where loot ball was not played. Mr. K. I'helan spoke strongly against the unconstitutional method of the council in allowing such delegates to sit. It was wellknown that no Leaguo was played in Ilawke's Bay. and yet two votes were recorded on al! matters connected with League football. . Mr. R. Doble said six such delegates occupied seats at the recent conference held m Wellington and he challenged their right to discuss the important matters that arose in connection with the coming tour of Lugland. , It was decided to support a proposal challenging the right of delegates to represent defunct Leagues.
