RACING CAR MISHAP.
ACCIDENT IN WAIHI GORGE. OCCUPANTS ESCAPE UNINJURED. [in - TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] * WAIIII, Friday. A racing car owned by Mr. S. Tanner, of Waihi, met with an accident on its way to Waihi Beach on Thursday. The car, which r was being driven by Mr. Tanner's son,- Walter, was rounding the second bend of the gorge, and in attempting to avoid a faulty part of the road went too close to the edge, which happened to be of soft material, arid fell down tho bank some Bft., where its descent was stopped by somo tea-tree. Although the car turned completely over neither the driver nor a companion, Mr. Jas. Keoghan, was hurt. The driver remained in the car, but Mr. Keoghan jumped clear as it left the road. The car was hauled back to the roadway later practically undamaged.
