LAUGHING MURDERER.
GAY AT DEATH SENTENCE. Smiling to the Inst, Harry Thompson, 36, a miner, was senten*fed to death at Kent Assizes recently for the murder of Rose Smith, the wife of a petty officer in tho Navy. Throughout the whole proceedings Thompson was laughing and smiling. It was stated that he had been living with the woman since September, and early this month cut her throat with a razor. At the police station, after being arrested, he treated tho matter lightly, and started to sing a Welsh song. When charged, ho said ho was guilty, and would he just as game to "peg out " himself. In tho box he said ho did not remember anything that happened at tho time of the Iragedy. Ho received the death sentence, passed by Mr. Justice Horridge, with a smile, said Thank you, my lord," and ran down the dock steps after waving his hand to some fr'ends at the back of the. court, and was smiling as ho disappeared from view.
