THEATRE FOR OPOTIKI.
A NEW PICTURE HOUSE. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] OPOTIKI. Wednesday. Application was made at the monthly meeting of the Borough Council last night by Shalfoon Brothers for a permit to build a new picture theatre. Plans wero submitted to show a handsome design, with reinforced concrete walls, for a building to seat 500 people. The council was asked to agree to surrender sft. of frontage of their lease from Arthur's estate to allow of the plans of the building being carried out. This was rather warmly contested, but was carried by ono vote. Messrs. Johnson, Pearson and Carruthers objected.
