EMPIRE CONSULTATION.
DOMINIONS AND LOCARNO. LORD PARMOOR'S QUESTIONS. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association (Reed. 9.5 p.m.) LONDON, March IT. Lord Parmoor drew attention in the House of Lords to-day to Article 9 of the Treaty of Locarno. He asked whether there had been any correspondence in respect to this article with Africa or Canada ? Had the Dominions been given an opportunity of expressing their views concerning foreign policy, unity in regard to which was most important for the peace of the world ?
The Earl of Clarendon. Under-Secretary for the Dominions, replied that at present, it would be inopportune to discuss the treaty. So far as the Ministry was aware none of the Dominion Parliaments had been invited to express their views on Article 9.
There had been extensive correspondence with the Dominions before the treaty was signed. The Ministry was of the opinion that the publication of the correspondence would be prejudicial to tho future free interchange of opinion. Tho matter would bo fully discussed at the next Imperial Conference.
