THE YACHTING SEASON.

CLOSING DAY ARRANGEMENTS The Auckland Yacht and Motor-boat Association decided am Tuesday that the official closing of the yachting season should fake the form of combined cruising and harbour races of all clubs on Saturday, April 17. The larger yachts and launches will race to Islington Bay and the smaller classes will race over the course cised liy the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron for class M.

Starting times were decided upon as follows:—Launches 2.20, all keel yachts 2.28, classes H and N 2.36, class L 2.44, class M 2.52, class V 3.0 o'clock, Star and S classes 3.8, classes T and X 3.16, class Y 3.24, class Z 3.38. The races will all. he started from the tower on King's Wharf on the five-flag system. Waitangi, winner of the GovernorGeneral's Cup last Saturday, was well handled by Mr. J. W. Frater. She potthe worst of the start, but gradually worked her way up with the leaders and when the channel mark was rounded for the first time was holding fourth position. On the beat back again to the Bastion mark Waitangi was third round and when sheets were eased she overhauled Prize, which put her into second position and she finally finished a little over six minutes after the scratch boat lorangi. This is the first occasion in which Waitangi lias had a win for five years and her skipper and crew have received many congratulations.
