LORD STONEHAVEN'S ESCAPE.

RECEIVES A SEVERE SHAKING.

A. and N.Z. MELBOURNE. Feb. 17. Lord Stonehaven, Governor-General of Australia, was about to return to Melbourne to-day from a visit to the Flinders naval base in an aeroplane, bnt the machine failed to rise and crushed into a tree.

His Excellency and the pilot escaped with severe shakings. They returned to the city by motor-car.
