BAN ON AMUSEMENTS.

PROHIBITION IN LENT. CATHOLIC BISHOP'S DECREE. (Received 5.5 p.m.) Renter. LONDON, Feb. 16. The Roman Catholic Bishop of Nottingham has banned the. holding of all publicamusements during Lent, including dancing, music-halls, theatres and cinemas. He says that the chief danger to which all these are exposed is the worldliness that is manifested in the eager desire for pleasure, such as dancing, theatres, pictures, cards and games of all sorts. Though excellent an occasional recreations these amusements, the bishop says, are unfortunately apt to become positive dangers.
