AUCKLAND STOCK EXCHANGE. The only sale in New Zealand Government securities recorded on the Auckland sharemarket yesterday was in Soldiers' Inscribed, 1933, which changed hands at £99 10s. Late inquiry was at the sale figure, no holder responding. In banks there was a transaction in Australasias at the ruling price of £l4 6s, late holders at £l4 7s 6d meeting with no offer from buyers. New Zealands maintained their upward movement and sold at 58s, threepence above the previous day's price. More were available at the sale figure, inquiry being at 57s 9d. In insurances New Zealands were quoted by holders at the weaker price of 37s 6d, buyers being steady at -36s 9d. South British were again available at 555, buyers being threepence below Tuesday's figure at 54s 6d. In timber there was activity. Kauris had sale at 335, closing quotations being, holders 33s 6d, buyers 335. A transaction in Leyiand-O'Brien was reported at 41s 6d, late demand being at 41s. In miscellaneous lines there was a sale in Farmers' Co-operative Auctioneering (B pref.) at 17s, late holders asking 18s, buyers 16s 6d. In mining the only sale was in Ohinemuris at 2s 9d, at which price two parcels changed hands.' More could be bought for this figure, buyers offering 2s 7el. Waihis were steady a.t holders 23s 6d, buyers 235. The following sales took place:— Soldiers' Inscribed, 1953, £99 10s; Bank of Australasia, £l4 6s ; Bank of New Zealand, 58s; Kauri Timber, 335; LeyiandO'Brien, 41s 6d; Farmers' Co-operative Auctioneering (B pref.), 17s: Ohinemuri, 2s 9d (two sales).
