Complete details regarding the motor shipbuilding production of the world during 1925, as published in the Motor Ship, show that, for the first time, the output exceeds ono million tons deadweight, which is more than three times the tonnage of oil-engined vessels built two years ago. and is 60 yer cent, greater than in 1924. During a period when shipbuilding depression has been of the greatest severity, these figures aro striking ns indicating the progress made in the application of oil engines to ship propulsion. In Germany, a somewhat larger tonnage of motor vessels wa3 completed in 1325 than in Britain, but the work in hand in German yards ha* lately decreased to five ry marked e;:tont. There is thus every prospect that the United Kingdom will be the leading motor shipbuilding country in 1926, but it will probably be closely followed by ][taly, where great strides have recently been made, and where nearly all the ships now being' built are to be fitted with oil engines,
