THE EDUCATION BOARD.

ADDITIONS TO SCHOOLS. The Auckland Education Board met yesterday, Mr. A. Burns, chairman, presiding. There were also present Mrs. Ferner, Messrs. J. D. MoKenaie, H. S. W. King, R. Hoe, S. B. Sims, F. A. SneL, T. U. Well J, J. P. McPhail and J. Patterson. It was decided that application should be made to the department for a grant for an additional schoolroom at Ngatea School, Hauraki Plains. In view of a fall in the roll number at Fapakura School, an application for enlargement of the building was declined. Notification was received of the death of Mr. George W. Rapson, head teacher of Tirau School, and for,over 38 years in the service of the beard. The secretary was requested to convey to the relatives the sympathy of members of the board. On the motion of Mr. Sims, it Was decided that a resolution changing _ the name of Forest Lake School to Lxnley should be rescinded, and the name of TTorest Lake retained.
