HOSPITAL BOARD'S DECISION.

HEAVY FINANCIAL LOSS.

A decision that St. Helens Hospital should not be taken over from the Health Department, was confirmed by the Auckland Hospital Board last evening. The finance committee recommended that, in view of the position disclosed by the balance-sheet- of the hospital and the conditions attached to the running of the institution, it should not be taken over by the board. Tlie committee's report was adopted. The balance-sheet showed that the loss on St. Helens for the year ended March 31, 1925, was £6400, and for the previous year £5923.
