BAND PERFORMANCES.
A MARCHING DEMONSTRATION A large crowd assembled at the Domain cricket ground yesterday afternoon to witness the display of marching and to enjoy the music of the Artillery Band which will leave shortly to participate in the Dunedin Exhibition contest. The band gave a remarkably fine marching demonstration. All the evolutions were carried out with perfect precision, and wore received with frequent demonstrations of enthusiasm by the spectators. Hearty applause also testified to the audience's appreciation of musical items by the band/ which should 'give .a good account of itself in Dunedin. An excellent selection of musical items was given by the Municipal Band at the Zoological Park. The programme included Lestrange's march, "Old Glory," and Sullivan's "The Gondoliers." A cornet solo "A Perfect Day" (Jacobs-Bond), was given by Mr. Fred. Bowes. The Port Auckland Band rendered an attractive programme at Point Chevalier Reserve. The Temperance Guard's Band played at EBerslie racecourse. A band performance was given as usual at Devonport.
