WEDDINGS.

TJio marriage -was celebrated in Melbourne on Wednesday, January 20, of Doris, younger daughter of Mrs. E. Moreland, of Melbourne, to Daniel W. Reuse, older son of Mr. asd Mrs, T. W, Reese, Rossall Street, Merivale, states the Christchuroh Sun. Mr. Reeso is well known in the cricketing fraternity of Canterbury as a bowler and a batsman. Ho was a member of tho Boys' High School first eleven, and he now plays for St. Albans. Ho has represented Canterbury. Ho is a nephew of Dan Reese, one of the best all-round cricketers New Zealand has produced. .4 The marriage of Mr. Albert Edward Smith, only son of Mrs. and tho late Mr. EL Smith, late of Yorkshire, England, of Myrtle Alma Humby, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. Humby, Mount Eden, Auckland, was solemnised at tho Holy Sepulchre Church in Khyber Pass on Wednesday, January 27. Canon Grant Cowen performed tho ceremony. Tho bride, who was given away by her father, woro a beautiful gown of ivory satin. Tho train was beautifully embroidered with pearls and silver trimmings, and wan caught on the left shoulder with a spray of orange blossom. The bride's veil of whit© embroidered tulle was held in place with the usual wreath of orange blossom. A beautiful bouquet of Chriiitmas lilies and green ferns was carried. She was attended by four bridesmaids. Miss Hazel Humby was in a frock of sea-green georgette, tho flounce canght on the left hip with a silver ornament. Miss Bertha Humby wore shrimp pink georgette, and Miss Rita. Humby lavender georgette. Miss Nora King was in lemon georgette. Veils with silver wreaths wero worn to match respectively, and beautiful bouquets were carried. Mr. V: A. Humby acted as best man. Messrs. C. C. Rasmussen, W. J". T. -Humby and D. Dobbs actod as groomsmen.

The wedding; was recently solemnised nt St Mary of tbo Angels' Church, Wellington, of Marguerite Mona Maureen, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Geoffrey K Purcell, of Ilailwav Terrace, Johnsonville, and Mr. James I'araell Downey, eldest son of the late Mr, John Downey, of Hokitika, Westland, and Mrs. Downey, of Hawkor Street,, Wellington. The Rev. Father Griffin officiated. The bride wore a handsome tunic gown of cream satin grenadine, trimmed with silver lace and draped to ono sido with a cluster of orange blossoms. Her veil of embroidered tulle was worn with a coronet or orange blossoms and silver leaves; she also wore a spray of orange blossoms from her mother's wedding wreath, and carried a shower bouquet of Christmas Hies, rosebuds, sweet peas and maidenhair fern, tied with ribbon and chiffon streamers* Mrs, G. C. Pearce (Petono) was matron of honour, and Miss Carmen L. Purcell was bridesmaid, wearing respectively dresses of coral pink and mignonette green crepe de chine, mado with godets and fchotildcr capes, trimmed with guipure lace. Their picture hats were black crinoline, trimmed with a band of coloured fiowers, and they ca'rried shower bouquets to tone. Tho marriage was celebrated at SL Mark's, Darling Point, Sydney, on Thursday afternoon, January 7, of Miss Mona Houston, daughter of the late Mr. Thorn®! Houston and Mrs. Houston, of Elizabeth Bay, to Lieutenant Thomas lor, of H.M.A.S. Herald, son of Mrs. K. Taylor, Yorkshire, England. Tho M#®" mony was performed by Arehaeaco© D'Arcy Irvine. The church was decorated with gladioli and other blossoms. Tho bride wore a gown of white crepe stella, embroidered with crystal, and having a train of rucked georgette. A tulle veil fell from a chaplet of orange blossom and a sheaf of white gladioli was carried. Misses Nancy Houston, Alice Milne and Dorothy Pai-aclice attended the bride. Their frocks were o.f nattier blue geoigetto and pastol-coloared laec,' and they wore hats of blue crinoline swathed with blue tulle, which fell over tho shoulders, forming scarves. Sheaves of ruhy-tintwl gladioli gave an artistic finish.—Engineer Lieut-Commander Hutchinson was best man.
