The fact that 96,800 war widows have married again since 1917 is disclosed in the report of the Ministry of Pensions for the year ended March 31, 1925. At that date there were 1,905,000 recipients of war pensions, of whom 51,000 were widows and dependants of officers. The cost of all war pensions for the year was £69,122,000 compared with £72,448,000 in the preceding year. The total payments to date amount to £598,000,000.
