TROOPS IN RHINELAND.
BERLIN'S RECENT PLEA. ALLIES IN CONSULTATION. DEMANDS BEING CARRIED OUT. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (Received 8.25 p.in.) Renter. ■ LONDON. Jan. 18. The British Government is at present drawing the attention of France; and Belgium to Germany's representations regarding the number of Allied troops in the Rhineland, with a view to a suitable reply being sent to Berlin after consultation among the Allies. A message from the German capital says that, regarded in the light of the German demarche, interest attaches to the periodical report of the inter-Allied Military Control Commission, which has just been forwarded to Paris. This records satisfactory progress in the carrying out of the Allied demands concerning disarmament, and fair progress in regard to effectives.
The date when the commission will terminate its work depends on Germany's . willingness to settle the few points now outstanding.
