NEW ZEALAND PRODUCE. BUTTER AND CHEESE PRICES. The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram dated January 16 from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London: — Butter.—The market is firm. Official quotations are:— New Zealand. —Finest salted : Januarj 16, 174s to 176s per cwt.; January 9,, 168s to 1725. Unsalted: January 16, 178s per cwt.; January 9, 172s to 1745. Other qualities: January 16. 166s to 170s. Australian. —Salted: January 16, 16~s to 166s per cwt.: January 9, 158s to 1625. Unsalted: January 16, 164s to, 170s; January 9, 160s to 1645. Other qualities, salted: January 16, 140s to 160s. Unsalted : January 16, 140s to 1565. Argentine.—Unsalted: January 16, 150s to 154s per cwt.; exceptional, 1565; January 9, 144s to 150s. Other qualities: January 16, 140s to 148s. Siberian.—January 16, 140s to 148s per cwt.; January 9, 136s to 1455. Danish.-—January 16, 178s to 180s per cwt.

Cheese. —Colonial firm. English Finest Farmers' unchanged. Official quotations are:— Canadian.—Finest coloured and white: January 16, 106s to 108s pet=- cwt.; exceptional, coloured, 110s. New Zealand. —Coloured : January 16, 104s per cwt.: January 9, 98s to 100s. White: January 16, 100s to 102s;-January 9. 1725. ' Wool. —The Bradford mayket is quiet but steady at last quotations. Hemp.—Fair business has been done in Manila. "J'* grade Feburary-April shipments sold at £47. January-March are quoted at £46 10s. The output last year' was 1,253,793 bales, against 1,488,815 the previous year. The stocks of Manila at December 31 were 165,522 bales, Great Britain 27,196, against 137,512 and 7320. Sisal No. 1, Tanganyika, January-March shipments, value £45. The Now Zealand market is quiet and steadier. Nominal quotation is for high points, JanuaryMarch shipments £4l, fair £37. Tallow.—The spot market is steadier 'at lower prices. Present quotations are : Mutton: Fine, 46s 6d to 47s per cwt.; fair to good, 42s to 45s 6d; dark to dull, 39s 6d to 40s 6d. Beef: Sweet and/or mixed, 42s 6d to 445; fair to good, 40s to 425; dark to dull, 38s 6d to 39s 6d. Mixed: Fair to good, 39s 6d to 41s 6d; dark to dull, 38s to 395. Gut, etc: 36s to 38s 6d.
