LLOYD GEORGE AND THE LAND AN ACUTE CONTROVERSY. A. and N.Z. LONDON, Jan. 7. Tho controversy among members of the Liberal Party over Mr. Lloyd George's land proposals has reached an acuto stage. Sir Alfred Mond, in addressing a meeting of tho Caermarthen Liberal Association, attacked many details of Mr. Lloyd George's scheme, and declared that he intended to protest most earnestly against any attempt to make the support of the land scheme the test of Liberal loyalty. Personally, Sir Alfred continued, he could not accept such a position, nor any land policy in which the freehold tenure was not absolutely safeguarded and a minimum of State interference provided for.
