BOUND FOE THE ZOO.
A LEOPARD FROM INDIA. REPLACING THE ESCAPEE. COLLECTION ARRIVES TO-DAY. A shipment of animals for the Auckland Zoo will arrive to-day by the Sussex from India. Included in the shipment is a female leopard to replace the one that escaped some months ago and met an untimely end. In addition the Sussex is bringing three pairs of demoiselle cranes, three pairs of common tranes and three pairs of flamingoes. Further additions to the zoo will be made later' this month. A male orangoutang is due to arrive by the Surrey on January 20. This animal will replace the one presented to the zoo by Mr. Eliot Davis, but which died on the voyage to ! New Zealand. The female orang-outang is thriving well at her quarters in the zoo. On January 21 the Wairnna will bring from Canada two pairs of American beavers. These animals were obtained through Mr. C. M.
