MAORI CHILD DROWNED.
jACCIDENT NEAR TE AROHA. I [BY TELEGRAM. —OWN CORRESPONDENT. ] TE AROIIA, Tuesday. At the native settlement, of Waitoki on New Year's Day a Maori girl, llangi Tiumata, five years of age, while playini; near a pool with another child, a boy of seven, Moti Itataue, fell in. The boy attempted to rescue her and fell in also. He then brought assistance, but the child was dead when recovered. * | The district coroner, Mr. J. Motley, held an inquest and returned a verdict of accidental drowning.
