TROTTING.

. SEASON'S FIXTURES. January 10—Wellington Trotting Clufe. January 30 —Hawke's Bay Trotting Club. February 20, 24—Otahuliu Trotting Club. February 128, 30—Forbury Park Trotting Club. NOTES BY riCADOR. Matters in tho trotting world in Auckland arc likely to remain quiet for several weeks as there will be no meeting here until tho Otahuhu Trotting Club's meeting cornea round next month. Jack Potts did not perform to expectations at Alexandra Park, and his form waj too bad to be correct. There is no doubt that he is good when at his best, but evidently he does not do well away from home, for on his two trips to Auckland ho hits failed to race well. Little notico need bo taken of tho failure of Marble Star in his only run at the recent meeting, for in addition to being above himself ho was half turned round at the start. Marble Star is a dabliing trotter, and though ho is takinp some time to make good in tho Dominion ho should lator 'oil reward R. Millen for his patience. Tho Australian-bred horaa Auto Machine displayed soni'e speed in his only start at Alexandra Park, for in-a fast run race ho finished close behind tho placed horses after going away badly. Auto Machine should win races if ho learns to leave the murk correctly. Want of racing played a part in tho defeats of Peterwah at the recent meeting at Alexandra Park. His third to Naplana and Judgo Hancock ill the Association Trot Handicap wa*s a fine performance, for he was badly interfor«cl with and sent to & break commencing the lost lap. Peterwah is undoubtedly one of the host straight-out trotters in the should mako a fast record over two miles the Hawke's Bay Trotting Club holds its annual meeting at Hastings on Saturday, January 30. Nominations for all events close to-morrow (Thursday), at oight p.m., with the secretary, Mr. H. P. Stratton. THE GKEYMOUTH CLUB. RESULTS OF THE RACING. [BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] GREYMOUTH. FORM AT ADDINGTON. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT. ] CHRISTCHURCH, Tuesday. The Sheik, who won the chief event at the Canterbury Park Trotting Club's meeting, scored his first success since he won the New Zealand Trotting Cup in 192-1. Sheik was in good form just prior to the last cup won by Ahuriri, but, he struck liis knee and had to be thrown out of work. P. Riddle decided Sot to start Sheik at that meeting, and tho horao had a spell for a few weeks. Recovering from his trouble quickly he was worked along slowly in view of the Canterbury Park Club's meeting. The spell did not do the Australian-bred pacer any harm and he looked in his best form when he was pro- ( duced at Addington last week. He raced v?ell from the back'inark. although lie hud none the best of the running in the early stages, ho won decisively, and when he returned to the s 'paddock he was greeted with the public being quick to recognise a sterling performance. Ahuriri's performance when lie finished second to Sheik in tho Canterbury Handicap irtakes him look one of our star pacers over two miles, and he will do still better yet. »■-. Young Carbino who won the slow-class trotters' race is a useful young horse, and when he learns to stay he will reach top company. Peter Bingen. the brother to Great Bingen, showed brilliant form when he won at Addington. He wns unlucky at the start and his performance in winning easily was very impressive. Queen's Own was responsible for an attractive effort in winning the chief twomile race. She was very unreliablo at one stage of lier career, but now looks like reaching the best company. Bonny Logan has long been regarded as one of our crack sprinters, and she put up a mile saddle record when she won the Telegraph Handicap in -2m 9 4-ss. She if exceptionally brilliant and wonderfully consistent. , Dillon Wilkes paced a Bolid race when he won the concluding event at Addington. It was his second win recently as he also Scored at New Brighton, and he looks like proving a bargain to the Auckland snorisman, Mr. George McMillan, who purchased him* not long ago. Pointalena broke a blood'vessel whilo taking part in the Railway Handicap at Addington, and his rider, J. McLennan, pulled him up. He will be given a good spell. The Toff, who was a very unlucky performer in unhoppled. trotters' events wtien raced by Mr. W, Hay ward, has gone into A. Fleming's stable and ho raced at Addington in the cclours of Miss N. Guitn.
