VALUELESS CHEQUES.

YOUNG MAN'S OFFENCES. REFORMATIVE DETENTION. The issue of valueless cheques for £7 10s, £6 5s and 19s was admitted by Rowland Wentworth Baddley, aged 24 (Mr. Denniston), in the Police Court yesterday, before Mr. J. W. Poynton, S.M. Accused also pleaded guilty to breach of probation. Senior-Detective Hammond said that accused had obtained a pair of motor windshields and £5 in cash in. exchange for the cheque for £7 10s. The probation officer said that accused was before the Supreme Court in February, 1924, for issuing valueless cheques. He was admitted to probation for three years, and had not completed restitution. He had shown that he was not a fit subject for probation. Counsel suggested extension of the term of probation and said accused could go on a farm. The Magistrate: A prison farm. Accused was sentenced to reformative detention foV two years.
