INCREASED WAGES SOUGHT. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] ■ CHUISTCHURCH. Tuesday. . A demand for an increase in wages, amounting to approximately 4 per cent., has been made by the employees in the five freezing works in Canterbury. The matter is at present the subject of negotiations between the workers' representatives and the employers. Work is being carried on in the meantime. It is understood that if the increase in wages is not granted a general meeting of all the freezing workers in Canterbury will be held for the purpose of discussing what action should be taken.
