OBITUARY.
MR. G. H. MAIR. ; i A. and N.Z. LONDON, Jan. 3. The death of Mr. George Herbert Mair is announced. Mr. George Herbert Mair, C.M.G., whoso death has occurred at tho early age of 58 years, was a well-known English journalist. He had been assistantdirector on the secretariat of the League of Nations since the formation of the League in 1919. He was an M.A.. of Aberdeen, and a Scholar of Oxford 1 8.A., Ist Class Mod. His. Mr. Mair ! joined the editorial 6taff of the Manchester Guardian in 1909, and was successively leader writer, special correspondent, literary editor and political correspondent in London. He became assistant-editor of the Daily Chronicle in 1914, but resigned in order to devote his full time to Government war work in the Ministry of Information. He was the director of the press section of the i British peace delegation to Paris in 191'9.
