CREAM AND ROSES.

A beautiful skin is every woman's birthright. And a perfect complexion is not nearly so difficult to have and to hold as some women seem to think. You have to remember two thingssimple food, scrupulous cleanliness—and then, you will have the sort, of ooniplexion some of our bill-posters are fond of talk- | ing about! The whole thing in a nutshell is this! How much more do you want a perfect complexion than eating too many cream eclairs, fried potatoes, ice creams and chocolates, and are you also prepared to spend a little time each morning in keeping your skin clean? I can't help to make you puss by eclairs and similar delicacies, but I can tell you hew to keep your complexion in perfect condition, says a writer in art exchange. The finest face cream and skin cleanser in the world is pure olive oil. You can buy a large bottle for Is fid, and it will last you months longer than the largest jar of face cream. Soap and wator cannot bo over-esti-mated, but soap has its limitations —it ain't and won't remove the real underneath dirt that collects on the faco and neck during the day —and that is where the olive oil comes in. But the greatest thing it has to recommend itself in my eyes is that it kills two birds with one stone; olive oil will hold powder better than all the vanishing creams in the world, and. once your skin has got accustomed to the use of it, you/will never bo troubled with the slightest suspicion of " shine," neither will it break through the powder in little grease "bubbles" as vanishing creams often do. In the morning wash your face and nock with soap and warm water, and then dash cold water over both face and neck, which will shock the blood vessels awake and stimulate the circulation. Now, patplease note I say pat, not rub, as rubbing only causes lines round the mouth and eyes —a good amount of oil over face and neck, and leave this on while you finish dressing. Just before you arc ready to slip into your dress, wipe off with a soft clean cloth all the oil that has not soaked into the skin, and powder carefully both faco and neck. You have only to look at your cloth to see how much good the oil has done; the amount of real, black dirt will make you feel almost ashamed! , , . The amount of oil absorbed by the skin will be enough to last all diy, oven if you wash your face again. , The night you have a hot bath is a (joon time to give your face and neck a real olive oil spring cleaning. For this you wash your face and neck in the hottest water vou can bear, before you get into your bath. Don't bathe your face with the cold water as you do in the morning, but pat the oil in while the pores are well open. Get into your bath and let the steam soak the oil thoroughly into the skin. When vou have finished your bath, wipo the oil off and dab a little simple tincture of benzoin over both face and neck. This is a wonderful astringent and tones up the skin, and should be left on all night. And the next morning if you are not pleased with your complexion, then all I can say is that it must be past hope!
