POLICE COURT NEWS.
ASSAULT AND DRUNKENNESS. FINE OF TWO POUNDS IMPOSED. A brief sitting of the Police Court was held yesterday before Mr. J. W. Poynton, , S.M. Charges of being found drunk in Cook Street and of assaulting Ada brought agaiust John Forbes Wilson, aged 52. Senior-Sergeant Edwards said the woman went up to accused in the street and spoke to him. He pushed her away, using more force than the occasion warranted. Accused pleaded guilty and was convicted and discharged for being drunk and fined £2 for assault. George James Smith, aged 62, appeared on remand on charges of being disorderly while drunk in Queen Street on December 26 and with resisting arrest. On the first charge he was ordered to pay £1 8s medical expenses and on the second was fined £2. A remand for a week was granted in the case of Wilfred Engebretsen, aged 26, alias Larsen, charged with being found by night in the Waitemata Hotel. Bail was fixed at £SO. • Four men, John Mahuika, alias Jack Smith, aged 22, Harry Carr, aged 35, Walter Bayliss, aged 23, and Arthur Charles Skelton, aged 38, were charged with being found by night on the launr-h lonero. They were arrested at b»lfpast one yesterday morning. A remand was mado until neat Monday,
