LITTLE GIRL KILLED.
ON WAY TO WEDDING. MOTHER WITNESSES ACCIDENT. Nellie Davis, the seven-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Davis, of Portland, met' her death in tragic circumstances on the road near Capertee, writes the Bathurst correspondent of a Sydney paper. The little girl was a member of a wedding party which was proceeding from Portland to Kandos, where a marriage had been arranged for Boxing Night between her elder brother and a Miss Alpin. Nellie was to have acted as trainbearer. Included in the party were the mother and sister of the little girl. The party was in a motor bus, and a car driven by Mr. W. Jones, of Portland. When the motor bus reached Crown Ridge, some 18 miles from Portland, the party alighted to view the scenery. Little Nellie ran round the hus, and, 'as she did so, the car, which followed, and which was about to pull up, struck her and inflicted such terrible injuries that she was killed almost instantly. The motherland sister, who had witnessed the tragedy, were prostrated, and it took some time for them. to recover. The body was conveyed to Capertee. The wedding, of course, was postponed. <;
