HORSE DIES OF FRIGHT.
A CHRIST CHURCH VETERAN. The last of the-- tramway horses in Christchurch is no more. He died of fright on Saturday, the sight of a circus elephant proving too much for old Kaiwarra. Led along Moorhouse Avenue on his daily constitutional the doddering horse for all his 24 years was seemingly enjoying the fresh air. Then his eyes lighted upon the elephant's trunk. It waved a friefidlv salutation at him, for it was attached to Wipth's circus. Kaiwarra, however, knew nothing of a circus or its denizens. He snorted with fear and collapsed.
