BOY SCOUTS ON PARADE.

EXHIBITION CONTINGENT. INSPECTION BY GOVERNOR. The Auckland contingent of Boy Scouts, wh,".'h is to attend the exhibition jamboree at Tahuna Park, Dunedin, • this month, was inspected by the GovernorGeneral in : the grounds of Government House on Saturday, afternoon. There were 94 scouts and nine scouters on parade, the representatives of various units being numbered as followHeme Bay, 39; Leys Institute, 29; St. Barna-,. bas, 39; Sea Scouts, 15; and St. Alban's, 4. The scouts were under Mr. R. A. Wood's. Mr. R. C. Grigsby, District Commissioner, and members of the Auckland Advisory Board were also present. . . His Excellency made -a very thorough inspection, and . offered much helpful criticism to the boys.- Sir Charles Fergusson was for a ntrmber of years commissioner for the County of . Ayrshire, Scotland.. He showed particular interest in the.lanyards and Turk's head knots worn by the scouts, several of which were plaited on parade. After inspection the boys were drawn up in hollow square formation and sat at ease on the lawn while His Excellency spoke on scouting and the coming camp. He emphasised the great value of the exhibition from an educational viewpoint, and said he hoped the boys would benefit from the trip. Cheers were given for Sir Charles and Lady Alice Fergusson at the conclusion of the address.
