THE PRIME MINISTER.
NEW YEAR'S DAY IN CITY. Tlio Prirao Minister, Mr.. Coatcs, who has been spending tho holidays at the seaside near Dargavillo, arrived in Auckland on Thursday evening to spend New Year's Day in the city. He was accompanied by Mrs. Coates. On New Year's Evo he and Mrs. Coatcs attended the dance given by the managers of the Grand Hotel and tlio Hotel Cargen. Yesterday they attended tho Ellcrslie races. Mr, and Mrs. Coates intend returning North this morning to rejoin their family at the seaside cottage on the Kaipara.. The Prime Minister will have a few moro days before resuming his political duties.
