SUICIDE BY SHOOTING.
BODY FOUND IN DOMAIN. A STOREKEEPER'S WORRIES. An inquest concerning the death of Robert Alexander Bovaird, aged 34, a storekeeper at Kingsland, whose body was found in tho Domain on Wednesday morning with a shot-gun alongside, was held on Thursday before Mr. F. X. Hunt, S.M., Coroner. Evidence was given that not long after deceased left home in the mornitig his wife received the following telegram from him: " See me near the car in the Domain. Bring someone with you." The telegram was despatched from Symonds Street Post Office Constable Collins gave evidence regarding the discovery of the body. From inquiries ho learned that deceased had been worried in his business. Arthur Norman McQuilkin, hotel manager, of Burleigh -vTerrace, Dominion Road, said that deceased went to his house at about 9.40 in the morning. He asked for the loan of a gun, stating ho had run over his pet dog, breaking its leg, and he wantol to shoot it. Witness gave him a double-barrelled shotgun, Bovaird saying he had his own cartridges. At the time he appeared to be normal. Witness had since learnt that Bovaird had not run over his dog. The coroner returned a formal veridct of suicide by shooting.
