DEFENCE PROSECUTIONS.
FAILURE TO ATTEND DRILL. SEVERAL OFFENDERS FINED. Several youths who had failed to attend military drill were fined in the Police Court yesterday. In the case of Leslie John Walding Senior-Sergeant Edwards said that out of 33 parades defendant had not attended one. Walding offered as an excuse that, he had lost his drill card. The Magistrate, Mr. l'oyriton: lam afraid that will not do; that cannot- lie accepted. You will be fined £3 with cos 1 s. Albert E. Leo said he could not attend drill as he was employed as a musician in a dance orchestra. "There is no need for you to go there if you do not want to," said tin- magistrate, in imposing a fine of £2 with costs. A fine of £2 with costs was imposed on Dennis T. Reed, whose attendance was also stated to be bad, while Eric Edinond Jordon was fined .£1 with costs. For failing to register, B. G. O. Brown was fined £4 with costs. H. F. Burnett was ordered to replace a uniform, valued at £2, which ho returned in a damaged condition.
