ENGLISH POOR LAW.
SUGGESTED ALTERATIONS. TRANSFER OF ADMINISTRATION Renter. LONDON. Dec. 7. Proposals have been circulated among the local authorities throughout Britain by the Minister for Health, Mr. Neville Chamberlain, under which county councils would absorb the functions of the existing poor law authorities. This step is a further phase in- tho process of revolutionising and simplifying the administration of the law and lopping off " the historic anomalies which were inaugurated by the Earl of Birkenhead, whose radical revision oT property law comes into operation on January 1.
