TRADE OF GERMANY.
J CHECKS TO RECOVERY. I NATIONALISTS BLAME BRITAIN. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. Times. LONDON. Dec. 6. The German Nationalists accuse Britain of endangering the Dawes scheme. They declare that since, tho ratification of the j plan in August, 1924, Britain's trade i policy has changed to Germany's disadj vantage. They say further that the key industry j duty, th», reintroduction of the McKenna | duties, and the recent safe-guarding of | industries duties, have all struck a blow j at German exports. They point out that j Imperial preference has the same effect, i Germany's export opportunities are also | restricted and menaced by the British I Government's mining subsidy. This, toj gether with other British measures, tends | to check the recovery of the German j trade balance, and thereby virtually j eliminates the assumptions on which the Dawes scheme was 1 The Nationalists intend to raise the j matter in the Reichstag, when the Government will be asked to notify the coun- ; tries interested. They say the new British ; measures may seriously retard reparation I payments and render their continuance j impossible.
