LOVE IN A COTTAGE.
The pros and cons of love in a cottage have been argued by many writers. Certainly to the young, unsophisticated youth and girl in the first glow of love-the idea has all the glamour of romance. In their excited brains is formed something like a vision of a snug, little hearth, a highlv-polished kettle, and a- delightful intimacy a deux—with the dim but not too highly-stressed possibility of a diet of bread and cheese and kisses! And the dream picture of a third little being insists on being a part of their vision. Such dreams perhaps explain why so many couples run headlong into matrimony. They deride the harrowing tales of hardened novelists depicting the matrimonial shipwrecks of hasty lovers who have done exactly what they themselves contemplate doing. " Our case is an exception," cries the prospective bride. " Housework will be no drudgery for me because I shall be doing it- for my husband. lie will be promoted . . . and even if he isn't, it is ridiculous to suggest that I shall tire of the 'monotony'."
