FIGHTING IN THE STREET. FATHER AND SON FINED. The sequel to a street fight between father and son on Saturday afternoon was heard in the Polite Court yesterday when Francis Hayes and his son, Francis John Hayes, aged 27, were charged with drunkenness in Hobson Street and with lighting. Mr. J. W. Povnton, S.M., was on the Bench. Senior-Sergeant Edwards said the two were seen engaged in a brawl together by a constable who arrested them. Both had been before the Court previously, the father in 1919 and the son about once a year prior to last April, when he was charged with drunkenness. The accused were convicted and discharged for drunkenness and were fined Jul each for fighting. John Eagle, aged 21, who appeared for sentence for stealing a suitcase, valued at £4 4s 6d. from the steamer Devon, was ordered to refund the value of the suitease and to come up for sentence if called upon within a year. Ralph Eugene Sabean, aged 46, was convicted and discharged for drunkenness in Chapel Square, and was fined £3 in default seven days' imprisonment for committing an indecent act. Patrick Knox, aged 48, charged with the theft of a ham, valued at 15s, from the, Auckland Meat Company, was remanded for one week. Bail was allowed at £SO.
