LONG AUSTRALIAN TRIPS.
2400 MILES BY AEROPLANE
Some Federal candidates in West- Australia in the recent election campaign had to cover great distances. Mr. J. F. Mullany was contesting Kalgoorlie, which is the largest area in the world represented % one member. He travelled 2400 miles by aeroplane to address meetings at six centres, and while it was waiting for three hours he motored 50 miles for one meeting. Mr. Mullany covered 2400 miles by aeroplane, 2100 by motor-car, and 1200 by rail. Mr. Gregory and Mr. Prowse motored 1400 and 1800 miles respectively. Senator Pearce travelled 2QOO miles by a car and 900 by rail. Senator Lynch's itinerary involved a journey of 1800 miles by motor-car and 1400 by rail. Mr. W. Carroll, one of the Ministerial candidates for the Senate, covered 1800 miles by motor-car and 900 miles bv rail.
