OBITUARY.
MRS. W. M. COMMONS
Old colonists will have noted with regret- the announcement made yesterday of the death of Mrs. Catherine S. Commons, who was connected with two families ® that have done their share in building up the Auckland provincial district. -Her father, Mr. Thomas Wrigley, was. formerly in business in the Tauranga and Bay of Plenty districts, with .which he was associated in the stirring days , of the Maori War. Early in life Miss. Wrigley was married to Mr. W. M." Commons, who was for a long period agent, at- Tauranga for the Northern Steamship Company. Afterwards he came to Auckland and was manager of Wilsons Portland Cement Company. Mr. Commons, who survives his wife, retired from business activities many years ago. The deceased lady was, as long as her health, permitted, an active worker in connection 'with" St. Dnvid's Presbyterian --Church and also with the Women's Christian Temperance Union, and her private benevolence was extensive. Four daughters and two sons survive her.
mi. E. H. KELLY. [BY TELEGBAPH. —OWN COUP-tSPON'TfENT. ] OPOTIKI, Monday. The death occurred at Opotiki last evening after a long and painful, illness, of Mr. Edmund Healy Kelly. The late Mr. Kelly was born at Opotiki in 1867 and always lived here. He was a great "lover of 'horses and in his younger days trained and good performers between Auckland and Napier. He was the first to introduce thoroughbred horses to the Opotiki district. Mr. Kelly was the poundkeeper for the county and borough councils for 23 years. He leaves a widow, six sons and* four daughters. There are five grandchildren.
MR. J. C. KINSEY. The death occurred recently at Melbourne of Mr. John Charles Kinsey, a former well-known resident of Auckland. He was born here 60 years ago, and was a prominent figure in boating circles in the eighties. In the first Judge's Bay regatta he won the Kissling Cup with the 16-footer Devonport. He also "won the, first yacht race two years later with the Cloud. He afterwards left Auckland to take up a position in Melbourne. Two of his sons fought' in the war, the elder one being killed.
