COLD BURST FROM SOUTH*
The weather for the week-end gave promise of being anything but fine on Saturday morning, when there was a sharp hail-storm in the city at about 9 o'clock. Showers prevailed until after mid-day when the sky brightened, although the air remained decidedly cool, with the temperature at about 60deg. The barometer showed a rising tendency, and with a clear atmosphere all day yesterday, had risen to 30.40 in. at midnight. [by telegraph.—own correspondents.] HAMILTON. Saturday. A break has occurred in the spell of fine weather experienced in the Waikato during the last few weeks, rain failing yesterday and to-day. TE AWAMUTTJ, Saturday. A fierce hailstorm swept over parts of the district this morning at an early hour and again shortly after eight o'clock. The weather has been showery all day and distinctly unlike November weather. [by telegraph.—press association.} WELLINGTON, Sunday. The weather showed some unusual variations during the week. After a very cold, fierce wind from the South, a heavy fall of hailstones occurred. This was succeeded by a clear blue sky and' warm sunshine on Saturday. To-day the weather has been ideal, with a bracing breeze from the South. ASHBURTON, Saturday. Snow fell in the country last evening, ranging from four to five inches at Methveil and other parts of the high country to a fairly heavy sprinkle in the borough. To-day the weather is gloriously fine. DUNEDIN. Sunday. Owing to rain on Friday and Saturday, all outdoor sports were postponed here.
