TATUA DAIRY COMPANY.
GOOD RETURN TO SUPPLIERS. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWK COItRESPOXriENT. ] , HAMILTON, Saturday. - The chairman of directors of the Tatua Go-operative Dairy Company, Mr. W. R. j Lowry, has given some interesting pari ticulars of the manner in which the comj pany was able at the close of the season ] to get the satisfactory figure of approxii mately 2s per lb. butter-fat tor the cheese | sold last season. Owing to the low price | obtained for cheese the previous season ! some of the suppliers were disposed to j sell cheese in June at a small advance on ! the previous season's price, but the direci tors wisely decided to hold, with the rej suit that at the end of the season the ; whole of the cheese was sold at 115s per I cwt., giving the suppliers a highly satisfactory butter-fat return. Although the returns for butter-fat for September showed a considerable falling off compared with the same month last year, and many farmers feared that the check the cows had received at the beginning of the season would affect them right through, thev are now glad to find that the fine weather and abundant fresn grass appears to have given the cows a fresh start, ant the increased butter-fat producI tion has been very pronounced. The growth of grass during the last fortnight j has been so great that farmers are com--1 peting freely for any good sorts of late calving cows, and p'rices are keeping up W „H for this class of stock and many of the factories! wiil have as much milk and cream to deal with for a month or two _ as they can possibly manage.
