RICHMOND CRUISING CLUB. RACE TO ISLINGTON BAY. A sweepstake race to Islington Bay was held by the Richmond Cruising Ctub on Saturday afternoon. A hard souUi-west wind was biow;rig, but despite the severe weather conditions 14 out of 15 boats faced tho starter. The race was timed to start at 2.45, but in order to give all hands a chance to reach the line the boats were not sent away until 3 o'clock, and even then a number were late. On the fall of the last llag, Kokiri crossed tho line first, closely followed by Otira, Lovrlight, Wild Wifve, Rouen, Rakoa and Mowai; then came Marero, Kathleen and Varona. Mum, Tulip, Waiapu and Toss Up were late. All were reefed, and good progress was made down tho harbou? in the fresh breeze. The 18-footer Wild Wave did remarkably well and headed the fleet; next to her caine Kokiri and then Marere. Otira and Lovelight made a very close race of it, oniy one second separating them at the finish, which was timed as follows.—Wild Wave (8m), 4h 16m 425; Kokiri (2m), 4h 17m 3s; Marere (scr), 4h 17m 575; Lovelight Mm 30s), 4h 12m 18s; Otira (Cm), 4h 19m Da; Rouen (2m 80s), 4h 19m 235; Mowai (8m 30s), 4h 20m 365; Muru (>snO. -lh 27m 68s; Waiapu (6m). 4h 28m 465: Tulip (17m), 4h 29m 365; Toss Up (18m), 4h 82m 19s; Kathleen (12m), 4h 32m 225. Thompson; timekeeper, Mr. E, Crawford. POINT CHEVALIER CLUB. The Point Chevalier Sailing Club opened its season under favourable weather conditions. Eight boais wero sent away to a good start, Leverette crossing the line first closely followed by Malua, Split Wave and Sea Rover, with the rest handy. Shortly after tho start Sea Rover carried away her centreboard and retired. Leverette continued her lead to tho first mark and next to her came Sea Elf and then Sea King. Leading down to the cage beacon the order was Leverette, Sea King, Malua and Sea Elf. On the beat across to the Point Chevalier markbuoy Malua passed Leverette, the times on the completion of the first round beihg: Malua. 12h 24m 30s; Leverette, 12b 25m 3s; Sea King, 12h 28m 475; Sea Elf, 12h 29ms 235; Maranui, 12h 33m 50s; Ivy, l'i!h 34m 12s; Split Wave.
