AUCKLAND STOCK EXCHANGE. The amount of business transacted on the Auckland sbaremarket yesterday was the best recorded lately. There was also a revival of interest by buyers in Government War Loans, but none of the issues sold. In debentures there were two sales of New Zealand Breweries at the higher figure of 22s Bd, late buyers offering this price, with holders Id higher. In banks Nationals of New Zealand changed hands at £6 12s 6d, and New Zealands at 56s 9d. Closing quotations of the latter shares were holders 575, buyers 56s 6d. Unions of Australia were available at £l4 16s, buyers £l4 13s 6d. In insurances holders of New Ze&lands advanced 2d on Wednesday's figure to 36a 6d, but inquiry was 3d lower at 35s 9d. South British were sought at 49s 9d, with holders at 50s, In finance a sale of Loan and Mercantile was reported at £B2. In gas the ordinary issue of Attcklands again had sale at 22s Id, while the contributing issue realised 6s 3d, Id below Wednesday's price. In shipping there was another sale of Unions (prei.) at 20s 3d. In timber Kauris improved to sell at 345. In miscellaneous lines holders of New Zealand Breweries came down to 51s, a drop of 4s for the day, with buyers practically unaltered at 47s 6d. Sanfords sold at 19s 6d, a later sale being reported at 19s 3d. Taranakt Oils continued active, sales taking place at 2ls 6d and 21s 3d. There was another transaction in Wilsons Cements at the ruling price of 34s 6d. In mining there were four sales of Kawaraus. the market becoming easier during the day, and prices ranged from 9s to 8s 3d at the final call. Waihis sold at 25s 6d, closing quotations being holders 25s 9d, buyers j 25s 3d.
