ROADING IMPROVEMENTS. BOROUGH COUNCIL DECISIONS. The Otahnhu Borough Council met last evening, the Mayor, Mr. R, B. Todd, presiding. The Mayor reported the contracts for formation work in Walmsley and Mangere Roads would be commenced at ©nee. It was decided that, the Walmsley Road work should be carried out first, and that Clevedon Road should receive attention on account of the extra traffic it will carry through the closing of Walmsley Road. A petition was presented by propertyowners in Mould Street, asking that the street be formed and metalled. The chairman of the Works Committee said the cost would be about £IOOO. It was decided to inform the petitioners that the council could not undertake the work at present. In connection with he Massey Memorial Scholarship Fund, it was decided that a canvass of the district be undertaken, but that the matter be deferred until after the elections. It was decided on the recommendation o? the Works Committee, that completion of tl*e Great South Roftd should be deferred until metal from the council's quarry was available. Owing to road formation operations by the Mount Wellington Road Board the quarry is not accessible at present, but should be available in about six weeks. The Legal and Finance Committee recommended that £lO 10s be donated toward the cost of the Auckland court at tha Dunedin Exhibition.
